What is Oddball?
Oddball is our own rare-answer game, made for this site. It uses the same simple idea as other games of its kind: you are given a prompt such as Name a fruit, you type a valid answer, and the rarer your answer is, the more points it scores. Everything in it, from the prompts to the rarity ratings, was written for this site.
A daily round has 7 prompts with 25 seconds each, and the maximum score is 700. Answers are ranked Common for 10 points, Uncommon for 30, Rare for 60 and Legendary for 100. A new daily round appears at 00:00 UTC and your streak is saved in your browser. You can also play unlimited practice rounds.

Oddball strategy and tips
Skip the first answer that comes to mind
The obvious answer is almost always Common. Go one level deeper into the category and name something that fewer people would think of.
Use the practice round to learn the tiers
Practice rounds do not affect your streak. Play a few to see which kinds of answers reach Rare and Legendary before you play the daily round.
Keep answers simple and standard
Our lists use common English names. If a valid answer scores zero because it is unlisted, use the suggest option or try a more standard spelling next time.
- Skip the first answer everyone thinks of, then go one level deeper into the category.
- Use your own hobbies and job knowledge: niche expertise is where Legendary answers hide.
- Spell answers simply and use the common English name.
- Use the practice round to learn which kinds of answers score well.
Who is Oddball for?
Oddball suits anyone who enjoys short, replayable browser games in the our own game · rare answers style. A run takes only a few minutes, you do not need an account to try it, and the rules are simple enough to learn in a single attempt. It is a good game to play with friends: compare scores, argue about answers and see who spots the most unusual idea. If you first met it in a Clueffy video, this page gives you the context the video skips, including how scoring works and what to aim for.
Once you are comfortable, move to a different game in the same family to stretch the same skill in a new setting. Our Clueffy game guides compare all of them side by side, and the home page lets you search by what a game looks like if you forget a name.
Oddball FAQ
How do you play Oddball?

How is rarity decided in Oddball?
By our editors, from how well known an answer is. It is not a live vote of players.
Why did my valid answer score 0?
Our answer lists are still growing. An answer we do not have yet is unlisted and scores zero for now.
